シンポジウム：英文学術図書の将来

日時:  2023年11月 8 日 (水）17:00－18:30

場所:    東京大学  社会科学研究所 第一会議室

専門分野を率先する担当者たちと英文学術出版の将来を討論するシンポジウムです。主な議題としては、著者の母国語が英語ではない場合などに人工知能のサポートで英語の原稿を改善する方法があるか、本の内容を提供し、重要な要素である本の形式や長さなどに割り当てるデジタルプラットフォームの役割、出版界における今後の変化が皆さんの研究、分野、将来のキャリアにどのような影響をもたらすか、などが取り上げられる予定です。

Symposium：The Future of Academic Book Publishing

Date/Time:  8 November 2023 (Wednesday）5-－6:30 p.m.

Location:    Conference Room 1, Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo

The symposium will discuss the future of academic publishing with leading players in the field.  Subjects to be discussed include how Artificial Intelligence might help authors improve their manuscripts (particularly those of non-native English speakers), the role of digital platforms in the provision of content and its importance for book format and length, and how changes in publishing will impact on your research, your field and your future career.

ワークショップ：英文図書学術出版の進め方

日時 :  2023年11月 ７ 日（火）12:00－13:30

場所 :  東京大学   社会科学研究所  第一会議室

このワークショップでは、英文学術出版界のなかでもトップレベルの編集者たちと実際に交流できる機会が提供されます。まだ本の執筆を考えているだけという方にとっても、早い段階で編集者の意見が聞ける貴重なチャンスですので、どうか気軽にご参加ください。若手研究員の場合はどのような取り組みが必要か、また、既に日本語で出版した本を英語版にしたい場合はどのように進めれば良いか、英文出版された際の魅力を一流出版社の編集者に対してフルにアピールする方法なども対象となる話題に含まれます。

注：ワークショップの参加は東京大学教員と研究員に限定です。

相談について：本事業では、11月に来学する編集者たちの幅広い専門知識を、教員と研究員の皆さんに十分活用していただけるよう望んでおります。これまでと同様、イベントの登録フォームをアクセスしていただくと、各出版社の編集者との面談を申し込めるようになっています。このような機会を提供することができるのは、UT-IPIがこれまで米国や英国の一流学術出版社との関係を築いてきたことによります。

Workshop：Developing Your English Academic Book

Date/Time :  7 November 2023 (Tuesday）12－1 p.m.

Location:     Conference Room 1, Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo

The workshop will enable authors to work with the top editors in English academic publishing. Please feel free to attend even if you are simply thinking about writing a book. Input from editors at an early stage is invaluable. We will also discuss the needs of early career researchers, those seeking to turn a Japanese book into an English book, and how to increase the appeal of your book idea or manuscript for acquisition editors at major presses.
NOTE: Consultation is limited to University of Tokyo academic staff only.

The University of Tokyo academic staff can also take advantage of the range of editors that will be visiting in November. Those who go to our registration page will, as before, be able to request meetings with editors from the publishers. We can arrange these visits because UT-IPI has been able to build connections with the top academic English book publishing presses in the United States and the United Kingdom. This is arranged on a first come, first serve basis, and space is limited so please reserve early.
